Java is one of the most versatile languages used today. It is used for applications, server pages, and all sorts of embedded systems. It is extremely "class oriented" and has built-in abilities for stack and queue manipulation.
C++ is used to develop operating systems, CGI interfaces for the web, embedded applications, robotic controls, linear and GUI applications and all sorts of programming tools. In fact, C++ is actually used to write other language compilers.
